About The Event

Join us for a powerful afternoon of literature, history, and conversation at the Lillie Carroll Jackson Civil Rights Museum. This month’s LCJM Book Club selection is Unceasing Militant: The Life of Mary Church Terrell, and we’re honored to welcome the author, Alison M. Parker, for an in-person discussion about the newly released second edition.

The event will be facilitated by Lisa Mitchell Sennaar, great-granddaughter of Dr. Lillie Carroll Jackson and co-facilitator of the LCJM Book Club.

Mary Church Terrell was a trailblazing civil rights activist, suffragist, and educator—born to formerly enslaved parents and rising to become one of the first Black women in the United States to earn a college degree. A founding member of the NAACP and the first president of the National Association of Colored Women, Terrell’s lifelong activism helped shape the fight for racial and gender justice in America.
